Thrashing Thursday

The next time you feel like complaining, remember that your garbage disposal eats better than 30 percent of the people in the world.- Robert Orben

( Listening to: Screaming Infidelities by Dashboard Confessional)

Today is Thrashing Thursday. Today you must, during some point of your day, throw an inanimate object against the wall in accordance with my fictitious holiday.

Heidi Lee Hegedus

She is my obsession!

Caught red handed.

"Hey mister, throw me some beads!"

Well as everyone could proabably tell by now, i'm obsessed with my little neice Heidi Lee, and can never get enough of that precious little mug.

But i guess thats enough pictures for the day.

Progress Report:

I like the book very much so far. I'm on chapter 6 right now, but I must say it’s a very peculiar read. I should have known from the title, but the story is actually about ancient Gods. It's touching on some of the most famous and well known early gods, such as Thor, and the All Father. We see them in human form, living and existing like normal people in everyday situations. I’m still very early into the beginning of the story, but it’s captivating and exciting.

But I must say, not a huge fan of the flashbacks. Some of them are flashing back to 812 A.D. I’m sure it will make more sense after a few chapters but now I’m struggling to see the meaning of these random stories and the purpose of meeting new characters which have nothing to do with the original plot.
But I’m sure it will all explain itself very soon!

More updates coming soon.

When pig's flu...

Things you might be wondering about swine flu...

Q. What is swine flu?
swine influenza is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs.

Q. Can humans catch swine flu?
Swine flu viruses do not normally infect humans. However, sporadic human infections with swine flu have occurred. Most commonly, these cases occur in persons with direct exposure to pigs

Q. But it's not a problem in the United States, is it?
Unfortunately, it may become one. The CDC has reported e
ight cases of swine flu in the United States, including two in Guadalupe County, near San Antonio, since March, and nine suspected cases. Contrast that with the period from December 2005 through February 2009, when there were a total of 12 human infections with swine influenza in the United States.

Q. What are the symptoms of swine flu?
Symptoms include fever and respiratory symptoms, such as cough and runny nose, and possibly other symptoms, such as body aches, nausea, or vomiting or diarrhea, should contact their health care provider. A health care provider will determine whether influenza testing is needed.

Lists

list making is for the birds...

Dear self,
try to remember every day to...

Fail fantastically
Be more sensitive to the feelings of others
Try not to take people for granted
Respect other peoples ideas and opinions
Enjoy every moment
Make at least one person laugh each day
Be humble
Be honest, no matter what
Respect my body
Have patients and be slow to anger

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude,

it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails."

Life Motto:

Translucent Tuesday

Today, I am tired. Despite the two cups of coffee I have already downed I just feel drained and exhausted. Last night I tried to cook Beef stew. I hate stew meat. Unless you have a crock-pot stew meat spells disaster on so many different levels. After two hours of cooking that damn meat, it was finally ready and tender. Dinner was at 9oclock pm.

I awoke this morning thinking with a sense of certainty, that it was Sunday. Don’t ask me why, but I was thrilled at the thought of sleeping in and lounging around all day… But in fact, I was sadly mistaken.

I keep having reoccurring dreams. This is what the Internet had to say about it...

"When you experience the same dream many times in your life, it is because you are procrastinating about something very important that must be done for your own safety. If you keep seeing the same dream, this is because you still haven’t learned the lesson. The unconscious mind has to show you the same thing many times, in the hope that some day you’ll learn the lesson.."

Hmmmm, I say. Food for thought.

Sleeping

This morning, as i lay sleeping peacfully in my bed, i am startled by the ringing of my cell phone. Its almost time for me to get up but still a little early. I look at the phone, thinking its the alarm, and see a random number calling. Its around 7 in the morning, so thinking it might have to do with work, I promptly answer the phone.

This is the actual conversation that i had early this morning.

Me: (groggy sleeping voice) Hello?
Caller: Hello, Paula?
Me: What?
Caller: Hello is this Paula?
Me: No, i think you have the wrong number
Caller: Paula, i'm just returning your call and was hoping i could talk to you about your account information
Me: (interupting and starting to get mad, half yelling): I SAID, this ISNT paula
Caller: This isnt paula?
Me: NO, i already told you that
Caller: Well is this..#235-**** (my number)
Me: Yes
Caller: And this isnt Paula's number?
Me: NO i already told you that!!!
Caller: Oh.. well i thought this was Paula's number
Me: (now i'm mad): WELL ITS NOT!
Caller: Oh well i must have the wrong number
Me: Yeah you do.. goodbye!!!

Hahah, are you DEAF? Seriously, what part of "You have the wrong number" do you NOT understand.
Oh, the stupidity of man.

(I'm pretty sure this is the man who called me....)

In other news...

Sunday nights are BOWLING nights!

Sunday nights at the bowling alley in West Columbia (by the D's Wings), its 5 dollar cover charge, and then dollar games and dollar shoes. I think we bowled 6 games each last night and only ended up paying like 20 bucks

Anyways, thats the place to find me on Sunday Nights

In other, other news...

This photograph pretty much sums up my morning.....
People are yelling at me, members are being extra rude, the computer systems wern't working this morning, the parkinglot is blocked off due to repairs, and just a mutual sence awfulness is all around me.
Monday has NOT started out on a good note.

Life Lessons

5 points after 5.

A ritual held every Thursday night in the 5 points area, where bands play live out doors to the people of the city. Last night I decided to join in on the festivities, because one of my favorite activities is people watching.
There was one thing in particular that I noticed that just bothered me. It irked me really. And the subject in question here is, yes... Balloon Hats

Exhibit A:

This balloon hat I find completely acceptable. First of all, it’s being worn by a small child. Balloon hats are intended for small children, so this is not only cute, but serving the purpose in which it was created for.

Exhibit B:

You sir,
Yes… you… look absolutely ridiculous
Not only are balloon hats completely inappropriate for adults, I find them distasteful and borderline offensive. To say, I have an urge to run at this man with a sharp, pointed object, would be an understatement.
That is my rant today. It needed to be said. SO next time your at the park and you see the man making little balloon animals or funny little hats… Remember how ridiculous that man above looks, and think twice before placing it on top of your head

These people decided not to heed my warning , and see what happened to them…

Ode to the Kitchen

April 22, 2009

Tonight... i make dinner. I always like the idea of cooking but somewhere along the way, I lose that passion i had when I started. My mother is an amazing cook. I remember when I was growing up, every night she would make dinner. Now, I come home from work, exhausted, annoyed, my feet hurt and the last thing I want to do is dirty up my kitchen to fix a meal. Its so simple to throw a pizza in the oven or heat up some leftover.

I’d call my self an experimental cook. It’s never a good idea, but each time I just can’t resist trying something crazy. "Maybe a little paprika… or cumin spice". Music playing in the background I dance around the kitchen waving my saucy spoon in the air. If your gunna do it, go all out. It’s a Spanish dish tonight, Chicken with paprika and pepper, sautéed with yellow rice and tomatoes, not to mention a healthy dose of garlic. Ricardo Arjona sings to me from my stereo system as I sing along in my choppy Spanish. I’ll never memorize all the words.

I hate cleaning the kitchen and I don’t have a dishwasher, so cooking is always an event at my house. I think I take after my grandma in my cooking style, because whenever I finish a meal, it looks like a tornado has ripped through the kitchen, leaving disaster and havoc in its path. Spoons on the floor, splattered sauce somehow managing to end up on my white walls, a burnt smell lingering in the air and a sink stocked full of dishes.
